Until fairly recently – until civilization – nature was a subject, not an object.  In hunter-gatherer societies no strict division or hierarchy existed between the human and the non-human.

Yes and people with learning difficulties as we see them today would have found benefit moreso in the old days ie ADHD would have hunted, dyslexia would not have been an issue, dyspraxia would have been the more creative out of the box strategy makers 🙂 my children’s psychologist had a great book on this I must get the name x
