5 Friday Favorites: March 14, 2014

  1. DayQuil and NightQuil the brand name stuff, jell capsules, at regular increments, have been holding a horrible cold at bay all week.
  2. Madam M, my work wife, who has kept me entertained during a particularly sloooow week for me, while trying to not get infected with my cold, and keep up with the swamp that is her work.
  3. Grocery Store Chinese Food, I know it’s not authentic. I don’t want it to be authentic.  But it tastes good, and I will eat plates of it, even when I’m not hungry, which is good when you’re sick and skinny (hey- skinny girls have problems too!).
  4.  Dark Chocolate Covered Blueberries by Emily’s Chocolate came in my Love with Food subscription box.  These little bits of lovely are deceptive with their simple chocolate coat, then get you when the dried blueberry fills your mouth with summery goodness.  5 thumbs up!
  5.   Rain and Fog.  We’ve had an unusual winter in the Northwest, with many sunny and snowy days. but I love my foggy valley and it’s drizzly weather.  I loved being able to cozy up with hot-coco and a nice sweater and actually breathe in the air.  Clearly, this is where I am meant to be.

Five Favorite Friday: March 7, 2014

It’s Friday.  Holy Freaking Alleauea- it’s been a long and tiring week, after a few too many over-scheduled weeks, and I am ready for a nice long lie-in (sleep-in, for those of you who grew up American).  Here are my five favorite things this week:

  1. Safe Travels we were blessed to get back home from my cousin’s Kansas Wedding with just the right breaks so we were only a little late and shorted about an hours sleep.  Other family members didnt make it to work on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, but thankfully- everyone made it home without injury.
  2. Costco Brand Rice Cracker Snacks I’ve been starving all week, and Kirkland is one of the best easy to access brands in town.
  3. Intellectual Friend’s sometimes I forget how wonderful it is to have so many educated and intellectually driven people around… and then I have a few bad conversations and I get to turn to Facebook to remind myself the world isn’t entirely filled with idiocy.
  4. Royal Moore Toyota and their body shop.  They fixed the Prius like new, while I was on vacation, and cleaned the inside just to be nice.  They even returned a few lost earrings from under the seats.  Everyone says dont get service from your dealer, but they are AMAZING and I loooooovvvveee their service every time.
  5. Readers in the lunchroom.  There are a few folks who take ten minute reading breaks in the lunchroom, and this totally entertains me because it reminds me of school, when we used to read during free periods at school.  I can still see our little circle sitting too many people at one table. To

What are you in love with this week?

I’m always in love with you, XOXOX Mae

Five Favorite Friday: February 21, 2014

It’s Friday!!! Huzzahhh!!

  1. This week, Friday is a favorite, because even though this was a short week (Monday was an American Holiday:  Presidents Day) it took forever to get here.
  2. Boss on vacation.  ‘nuf said.
  3. My knock-off California Pizza Kitchen Thai Crunch Salad.  It takes forever to make for a lunch, but I’ve been really into it.
  4. TLC’s the Little Couple.  In anticipation for the March 4th release of the new (or continued) season, I have been watching back episodes.  It’s nice to see normal people living their lives, committed to their lives not a television persona.  It’s also nice to see them protecting images of their newly adopted child until the family has had time to adjust to life in a new family, country, and continent.
  5. My IRL Friends.  Now, internet friends, dont get down.  I’m just very appreciative for a handful of folks who take my call, call me, and with whom I get to have game night without worrying about being slaughtered (I’m sure you are all very very nice people, but it is the Internet- and we have the Lifetime channel).

What are you in love with this week?

I’m always in love with you, XOXOX Mae

Five Friday Favorites: January 31, 2014

Sorry it’s Saturday on half the planet- but I’m running behind on life (I ended up back at the office on Thursday night).  But here’s Five Favorites for Friday!

  1. Vanilla Marshmallows– I keep a bag of minis under my desk for coco emergencies, but the vanilla ones make my heart, and hot coco sing!
  2. Costco Gas Stations- I’m not a math major, but $50 for a Costco card, and 70c a gallon savings means I make the difference after about 6 Prius fill-ups.  So yeah- that works.
  3. Friday Night Pizza Night- Newsflash to any Romantic-type Prospects, my Dad and I have a Friday routine of Pizza and semi-intellectual TV and occasionally alcoholic beverages.  You can join in, but you cant break it up.
  4. Co-workers Treat– My boss isn’t the kind of person who foots the bill without the company footing the bill.  But I have an amazing co-worker who picked up lunch, without any reason today.
  5. Catalogs– They may be a thing of the past, and something that is rapidly falling out of favor- but I love getting them in the mail and thumbing through all the options.

What do you love this week?  (My 6th thing is commentators!)

Loves, Mae

Random Rambles: Microwave Numbers

This came to me while I microwave my mother’s (aka Bear Creek Soup’s) chili for lunch…

The numbers 7, 8, and 9 never get any love. I mean think about it… there are only 60 seconds in a minute- so you’re never hitting those buttons as a seconds option- and when was the last time you microwaved something for that long?

Like never, that’s when- because even if the package says to… you don’t. Be honest!

Anyway- random ramblings,
Love- Sarah Mae
